Top 5 Drones Without Camera [2018] – Full Review

While there are a lot of great drones that have cameras out there, this review is going to focus on drones without camera. Drones without cameras are for those who want to focus solely on flight aspects and want a drone that comes with multiple flight features, better flight times, or even better speed.

I’ve decided to show you my top 5 drones without a camera to give you the insight you need to make the best decision possible. Unfortunately, there are thousands of drones that don’t have cameras out there, so this is why I’m showing you my favorites.

All of these drones have great quality, differ in their own ways, and are the best of the best. Hopefully, you’ll like them as much as I do!

Best Drones Without Camera Reviews

For this review, the drones are in no particular order as to what my favorites are.

Force1 F100

The F100 by Force1 is a drone that’s compatible with certain GoPro models and comes in at $140. Keep in mind, however, that if you want to use a GoPro with it, you’ll have to purchase one separately. Since this review is for drones without cameras, I don’t think that will be an issue!

  • Has a total flight time of up to 15 minutes without a GoPro attached, doubled by the second battery included for free
  • Uses brushless motors for a more stable and quiet flight
  • Compatible with GoPro models Hero 3 and Hero 4
  • Has a transmission range of up to 1640 feet
  • Features a 2-gear Speed Mode, High/Low Speed Modes, and 360-Degree Flips
  • Takes a 1800mAh LiPo battery
  • The F100 by Force1 actually gets up to 30 minutes of flight time, if you use the second battery that’s included for free, without a GoPro mounted, so that’s a definite plus.

    DJI Phantom 2 V2.0 Bundle

Instead of just focusing on the drone, I’ve decided to give you the Phantom 2 V2.0 Bundle by DJI because it has better value should you decide to mount a GoPro at some point. It’ll cost you $500, but the decision is well worth it if you do own a GoPro and want to use your GoPro at whatever point in time.

  • Comes with the Zenmuse H3-3D 3-axis gimbal stabilization system
  • Features GPS Flight Modes, Auto Return to Home, ‘No Fly’ Zone, and Altitude Hold
  • Has a total flight time of between 20 to 25 minutes
  • Takes a 5200mAh LiPo battery
  • Uses a 2.4GHz transmission frequency
  • Compatible with GoPro models Hero 3, Hero 3+, and Hero 4
  • Has a range of somewhere around half a mile
  • If you’d like to use FPV with the Phantom 2 V2.0 Bundle by DJI, you will need to purchase a transmitter with a frequency of 5.8GHz. Other than that, you get everything you need for a drone without camera!

    DROCON Blue Bugs 3

The Blue Bugs 3 by DROCON quadcopter is an interesting find at $130. It’s got a nice color to it, a cool design, and a lot of neat features and specs. It’s one of my favorite drones without a camera for many reasons, including the upgraded motors.

  • Uses upgraded brushless motors that won’t overheat and melt the plastic
  • Has a total flight time of between 15 to 20 minutes
  • Uses two-way communication to decrease the delay in commands
  • Comes with an action camera slot
  • Has a transmission range of between 300 to 500 meters
  • Takes a 7.4V 1800mAh LiPo battery
  • Uses a 2.4GHz transmission frequency
  • Features a Smart Remote Control Alarm, 360-Degree Flips and Rolls, and Independent ESCs
  • Uses a 6-axis gyro stabilization system
  • The action camera slot is best used with a GoPro, but it can hold pretty much any action camera. Although, if you’re going to be using one, it’s best to get in contact with the manufacturer before you do so to make sure the one you have or are going to purchase is one that is compatible with the drone.

For those on a budget, I bring you the HS170 Predator Mini by Holy Stone. It’ll only cost you $40, so purchase away. Even though it’s one of the cheap drones without camera, it’s still an awesome find that I’ve come to love.

  • Uses a headless flight security system that allows any skill level to fly it with ease
  • Has a flight time of between 6 to 8 minutes
  • Uses a 2.4GHz transmission technology with added anti-interference and 4 channels

    Drones Without Camera FAQ

If you have a question that I haven’t covered in my FAQ section, feel free to let me know and I’ll do my best to answer it!

Do I have to have a license to fly a drone without camera?

As long as your drone is under 5 pounds and you are not flying it for any commercial purposes, you’re good to go. Otherwise, you will have to have it registered with the FAA and have your license with you at all times when you’re flying.

Which is the best drone without a camera?

In my opinion, either the Phantom 2 by DJI or the Solo by 3DR. Both are powerful, awesome drones without a camera, but the final decision depends on how much power you want and the price you’re willing to pay.

Which are the cheapest drones without camera?

I could go on forever about the cheapest drone without a camera, but for the sake of saving time and not listing hundreds of drones, I’ll point you back to my favorite – the HS170 Predator Mini by Holy Stone.

    Drones With No Camera Analysis

As you now know, there are a lot of drones without cameras out there that have action camera slots, mainly for some of the GoPro models, specifically the Hero line. This is actually a good thing because it gives you the option to use one if you want to and then remove it later for some old-fashioned flying.

We’ve gone over some of the most powerful drones, such as the Solo by 3DR, to miniature drones that offer some of the more common basics, such as the HS170 Predator Mini by Holy Stone.

With that in mind, it just goes to show that there are no doubt drones without camera out there for just about any preference!
