Drones for Sale – 6 Great Starter Drones to Buy 2014
It can be difficult to choose which drone to start out with when looking at drones for sale these days. From the massive unmanned planes that the US military flies to the mini quadcopters flown by hobbyists, there is a wide array of what the term “drone” entails. Our drone form of choice is the quadcopter which means that the drone has 4 rotors which control it’s movement. There are plenty of other options from plane like drones to multirotor machines that have more than 10 propellers! Quadcopters prove that they are the most economical and widely available in ready to fly form which is why we have narrowed our focus to them.
We wanted to review the best mini drones that are currently on the market for under $100 that would be best suited to learn to fly on. While we realize there are many solid choices, we wanted to review some of the best mini drones so far for 2014. With all the attention that drones have been getting recently like Amazon announcing of the possibility to get your packages delivered by drone we expect many more to enter the market by the end of the year.
#6 Syma X1 ~$35 Ready to Fly
They Syma X1 is a great drone that has been around for quite a while. It is a little larger than the other ones in our list but it runs very stable and is hard to break. For the price point you really can’t go wrong starting with this quadcopter. We would really recommend this to anyone who wants to start with a little bigger quad and needs it to be cheap! Check out a more detailed review here.
#5 Heli-Max 1SQ ~$100 Ready to Fly
The Heli-Max 1SQ is a great mini drone on the market for 2014. It is very durable, capable of outdoor flight in light winds and is ready to fly right out of the box. We think this is a decent quad but due to its pricing and the fact that it only has a 3-axis gyro system, we have to leave it as #5 on the list. It also tends to be a little more pricy when you are purchasing it ready to fly. Check out a more in depth review here.
#4 Blade Nano QX ~$90 Ready to Fly
This is a great little drone with great reviews all over Amazon. The tiny Blade Nano QX is a little heavier than half an ounce and is small enough to fly in your bedroom. One thing that is really great about the Blade Nano QX is the fact that it already comes with attached rotor guards which are crucial when learning to fly. Overall the highlights are how easy it is to use, it is cost effective, and it already comes with the blade guard. Check out a more in depth video review here
#3 Estes 4606 Proto X Nano ~$40 Ready to Fly
This is the smallest drone available on the market at this time, which is a bit of a novelty factor that has us put this quad at #3. For the price, it is a simple and dependable drone that’s easy enough for beginners to pick up. The main issue with the Estes 4606 Proto X Nano is the size of the controller which, if you have larger hands, is very hard to use. If you’re looking for an R/C drone with a number of cool features, then the Proto X is not going to be the best choice. However, if you are looking for a micro dronethat is fun to fly around your cubicle, then it should fit the bill perfectly. Check out a more in depth review here.
#2 Walkera Ladybird ~$80 Ready to Fly
The Walkera QR Ladybird Mini Drone is only palm sized but it has a bit of a fun shape as it looks like a ladybug. This is very popular because the price point seems to be a bit lower than most mini drones. It does have the advanced 6 Axis gyro controlled system which makes it very stable during flight and very easy to fly. Beyond being very stable, it is very fast and maneuverable and we love how it flies. Check out a more in depth review here.
This Hubsan X4 H107L is a bulletproof mini drone and one that we personally love and the most cost effective starter drone on the market today. It will take plenty of damage and keep on ticking which is why we love it! This mini drone is recommended for beginners as well as advanced fliers as it is fairly easy to learn on and super fun to fly. Whether you want to fly it inside or outside it will do well for any type of environment. You can find some more information on the different varieties available here. Check out our review here.
